Summary About Movie: In Japanese Ju-On means The Grudge. Ju-On is the first of 12 feature films created by Takashi Shimizu. At the Beginning of film Assistant Social Worker Rika is sent by her boss Hirohashi to care for Sachi. The house is in Nerimo Tokyo it’s a creepy vibe, Rika has the paperwork in hand rings the doorbell no response, so she opens door walks in and there is a mess all over house. Rika calling for someone to see who is home, first person she discovers is Toshio (Grandma) on the floor. Rika puts Toshio outside and begins to bath her as grandma looks dazed and in another world, she than begins cleaning the house. As she is vacuuming she discovers crumbled picture of the family. She discovers the son Toshio and a black cat. Several Years Earlier Takeo Murdered his wife Kayako once he discovered she was in love with another man. Than killed Family Cat Mar and son Toshio. The murders create a curse on the family called a Onryo, then the curse murders Takeo. Whoever enters house is consumed by the curse and then taken to the place they die. Rika witnesses Sachie being killed by Kayako ghost causing Rika to pass out. Detectives Nakagawa and Igarashi find the sisters bodies in the attic. Rika is haunted by ghosts. The detectives working on case find retire detective Toyamo he is terrified to revisit case. He goes to burn house down but hears girl’s voices in attic and goes upstairs to check it out. While detectives go to house with Ex detective they get murdered. Towards end of movie Rika is seeing flashbacks from Kayako taking over her body. Rika dies from Takeo Ghost. At end of movie there are missing people posters all over city in Nerimo Tokyo.

I interpret this to mean When you see Grudge you are terrified and fear the grudge and then once it sees you you are died with no way out.
Summary About Movie: The Grudge is a remake of the Japanese film Ju-on The Grudge. The Grudge describes a curse when someone dies in a grip of powerful rage or extreme sorrow. Again, her husband Takeo murders his wife because of an affair and then drowns his son and Mar the cat. The beginning of film starts off with taglines from movie. Than white man jumping off building killing his self. Yoko the Care worker go up to attic to see what noises she heard. She than encounters the ghost of the family. Karen than gets called in to job because the boss is concerned about Yoko disappearance. The movie is like Japanese storyline Karen walks in house and it is a mess. She than finds the grandma laying on floor and helps her up. The grandma has dementia. Karen than finds picture of family on ground. When she at the house Karen is shocked when she finds Toshio and Mar. Alex finds Emma dead and Karen in a state of shock after witnessing Kayako. Just like Japanese movies the two Detectives Nakagawa and Igarashi get summoned on the case they find Matt and Jennifer in the attic. Karen than begins to be haunted by Kayako and tells her boyfriend Doug. Just like Japanese film she hears things, while taking a shower ghost hands in her hair. After this she does her research on house and confronts detective Nakagawa and he informs her of the people died and curse on the house. When detective tries to burn down house he is than killed by Takeo ghost. When Karen is aware Doug went to house she races there to find Doug paralyzed by fear of Kayako they try to get away but then Doug dies. Than as Kayako is trying to kill her she able to ignite a fire. When she arrives at hospital she than learns the house survives fire. When visiting Doug body, she realizes she is still haunted by Kayako.

The Grudge Trailer–  This is when the west rebooted and it became a success. One of the Popular reboots of Japanese Horror. Check out the American version that payed close attention to Japanese horror.

Why the Grudge was Successful in the East and the West?

The Grudge was one of the few movies that had success in the East and West. It lived up to its Japanese horror in this reboot. The Grudge payed close attention to the Ju-on grudge as it brought its horror from thousands of miles away and made it a Hit movie in the East and West. Not all horror movies are able to be a success when it is remade. If you want to watch a good Horror Film that will have you jumping out of your sheets than watch The Grudge.  The Grudge made its West Debut in 2004.

The Grudge opened at 3,348 Theaters in North America. The film generated $39.1 million in ticket sales in its first weekend (October 22–24, 2004) It is also second in Japanese remakes but seventh in the highest openings for an October and Fall release, being beaten by family movies.

Ju- On Grudge Success

Ju- On Grudge was where the Grudge series all started from. It is the Ultimate Thrills for Chills Horror films movies. The Cultural identity is express in the movie that gives the audience more horror than other films. The Curse started in Japan when the Ju- On Grudge was released in 2002.  There are 12 feature films in the Ju- On Grudge Franchise.

The film made US$ 110,359,362 in North America alone and a total of $187,281,115 worldwide, far exceeding the expectations of box office analysts and Sony Pictures executives. Sony also stated the film cost less than $10 million to produce, thereby making it one of the most profitable films of the year.

Several years later, Rika has moved on with her life. Her friend Mariko, an elementary school teacher, pays a visit to Toshio, who is registered as her student but has never shown up for class. Rika races to save her but is too late. Kayako’s ghost comes after her, and Rika witnesses Kayako briefly take on her appearance. She realizes that she is doomed to play out the curse and the same fate as Kayako. Takeo’s ghost then kills her.

In the deserted Tokyo streets, many missing persons posters lying on the ground. Rika’s corpse lies in the house’s attic, only to spring to life with a death rattle.

Karen races to the house upon learning Doug has gone there to look for her, experiencing a vision in which she sees Peter visiting the house and finding Kayako’s corpse. Karen finds Doug paralyzed by fear, and attempts to flee with him, only to witness Kayako crawl on Doug, who dies of fright. Karen spots the petrol and manages to ignite it just as Kayako is about to kill her. Karen is whisked to a hospital, but learns the house survived the fire. Visiting Doug’s body, Karen realizes she is still haunted by Kayako

He is a Japanese Film Maker born July 27,1972. Takikashi is best known for creating The Ju- on Grudge and the Grudge. He is a part of the New Breed Horror Directors in the East and West Coast. Shimizu write and directed The Ju- On Grudge and was a writer on The Grudge.

Stephen Susco is a American Film and Television Screen writer who is Most Famous for The Grudge and The Grudge 2.

Takikashi made a hit series for horror movies when it came to the Original Ju- On  Grudge and the Grudge. In 2004 when he teamed up with American writer Stephen their  movie made a nice remake that left us for thrills and chills just like his Original Ju- On Grudge did. It brought the Japanese Horror thousands miles from the East Coast  to Hollywood that did not disappoint.

In an Interview Takashi Shimizu explains why he recreated his hit horror film the Grudge with American Actor Michelle Gellar. He explains he thought he was done when he made Ju- On Grudge but Sam hit him up and wanted to bring his film over to come across in an American way. Remake a Hit Movie just like The Ring was when it came from the East to West Coast. The Ring and The Grudge are Two movies that brought and followed Japanese storyline with an American Actors/Directors to the Asian Horror films.
